How It Works
The Design Process
From first conversation to final rendering: a transparent, collaborative journey to your perfect piece.
Discovery & Brief
Every design begins with a conversation. Zahra takes time to understand not just what you want, but why you want it: the occasion, the emotion, the story behind the piece.
You'll fill in a detailed design brief via the commission form, covering your preferences for metal, gemstone, jewellery type, occasion, timeline, and most importantly, the vision in your mind.
This stage ensures Zahra has everything she needs to begin designing with intention.
Hand-Drawn Concept Sketches
Once the brief is confirmed, Zahra begins sketching. Using traditional pencil and paper, she produces initial concept sketches that capture the essence of your idea, exploring proportions, silhouette, and structural elements.
These sketches are precise technical drawings as much as they are artistic explorations. You'll receive a set of concept sketches to review, with the opportunity to provide feedback and direct refinements.
Hand-drawing is where the design soul is born.
Digital Illustration (Procreate)
Once a sketch direction is approved, Zahra moves to Procreate on the iPad Pro. Here the design gains colour, texture, material rendering, and visual depth.
You'll see your piece come alive in its proposed metal tone: yellow gold, rose gold, white gold or platinum, with gemstones rendered in their true colours and characters.
Procreate illustrations are stunning, shareable design documents that many clients keep as art pieces in their own right.
Matrix 3D CAD Rendering
The final stage of the design process is 3D rendering using Matrix, the industry-standard CAD software for fine jewellery.
Matrix allows Zahra to build your piece digitally in three dimensions, accurately modelling every curve, prong, stone setting, and surface detail. The resulting photorealistic renders show you exactly how your piece will look from every angle before it ever goes to a jeweller.
Matrix renders are the bridge between design and production, precise enough for a goldsmith to work from directly.
Final Delivery & Production
At the end of the design process, you receive a complete design package: your hand-drawn sketches, Procreate illustrations, and Matrix 3D renders, all in high resolution.
Zahra is a dedicated jewellery designer, not a manufacturer. Your design package is ready to take to your trusted jeweller for production, giving you full creative control and peace of mind.
Many clients work with recommended goldsmithing partners; ask Zahra during your consultation for referrals in your region.
